I was passing comments back and forth yesterday with another blogger about the joys of reading, and starting off early. She was grateful that her little boy enjoyed books even at a very young age. I am grateful too that all my kid's have enjoyed reading while growing up, but it wasn't always that way.

The oldest loved books from the start. At one year old he would bring a book from the shelf and climb up on anyone's lap, expecting them to read
to him. I think I took that for granted, thought it was normal, and I even became tired of it. He could do this over and over and over....until we couldn't read one more book!

My daughter would look at a book for about 5 minutes, and then run off to play. If the book had very
exciting pictures and the story was simple and easy to follow we could sometimes engage her for a little longer. However, once she started school and learned to read for herself, she became the most avid reader and writer. Now, writing has become part of her career path.

The youngest had a little trouble catching on to reading. Like his sister, he was totally disinterested as a toddler and preferred active play. I tried to encourage interest in books with pop-up books and books with toys, which he liked but they still didn't hold his attention for long. However, he was always interested in what was happening on a computer screen. I wish I had access to this Looney Tunes Phonics program back then during his first few years of school.

We live in a cold climate so we spend a lot of time indoors in the winter. For us, reading is great winter fun, and it opens up new worlds of entertainment that we wouldn't otherwise have access to. Because reading takes mental effort and actively engages our imagination, it's much more productive, empowering and mentally stimulating than watching TV. However, for some kids it can be a big struggle that can cause them to feel really defeated.

I reccomend Looney Toons Phonics Program to help any child learn to read, and especially for struggling readers. I remember teaching my oldest son phonics in first grade, it was hard for him to catch on until the 2nd half of the year, even though he loved books and knew his letters from a very young age. I think Looney Toons Phonics would have helped him too.

So I want to offer you a couple really good deals that will make learning to read easy and fun!
