Do You have A Favorite Family Game?

Sometimes it can be hard to find a game that everyone likes to play, or is good for various ages. Since my oldest and youngest were 6 years apart this was an ongoing struggle until we found Apples to Apples. Aside from making everyone laugh, the rules are flexible enough that a younger child can play along even if they don't understand the words. Great vocabulary builder too.

Another great game for ages 8 to adult is the Catan series. Start with The Settlers of Catan and buy
expansion packs to add variety as kids get older. The basic game can be adapted and played in several ways to make it easier or more difficult. The expansion packs add new objects, rules and options. Learn strategy, planning, bartering & trade, dealing with set-backs & troubles. The Amazon price is so much better than buying these in the store, so don't wait until Christmas because last year they were sold out everywhere.
